The first Belgian Barcamp outside of Brussels will take place in slightly more than 3 months in Gent. Organizer is Thomas Bouve, and the event takes place in the offices of IBBT (Zuiderpoort Office Park, Gent).

It’s decided! Barcamp Brussels #4 will take place on Saturday Dec 1st, in the mVillage business center in Schaarbeek, close to the Koninginneplein, Kruidtuin/Botanique and the Brussels North station (thanks for the help, Simon, and the tip Pascal).

Put it in your agendas! There are currently 56 people on the Barcamp Brussels attendee list, and I sure would like that list to be longer still. So a mentioning on your blog would be nice!

It’s almost been 6 months, so here we go for the 4th time: I’m starting the preparations for Barcamp Brussels #4.

An event like Barcamp could not exist if we didn’t have generous and flexible sponsors. This year we can count on the cooperation of

• Skynet (Halles des Tanneurs, breakfast and bar, T-shirts)
• Microsoft Live (lunch) and
• Nokia, who will lend us 4 brand new N95’s to record every presentation.

We are still looking for 2 video projectors - we have 3 rooms, but still only 1 projector. Does anyone have an office projector they could take along for that Saturday?

We’re currently at 73 attendees. Is anyone still on that list that knows he/she won’t be able to make it - if so, please update the attendee list. And, obviously, are there still people who want to join, please add your name to the list. For practical reasons, we cannot accommodate more than 80 persons, so if you still want to attend, be quick!

Barcamp Brussels#3 will take place on Saturday May 5th at the Halles Des Tanneurs, the renovated Wine Palace right in the Brussels Marolles!

The only thing I have somewhat fixed is the date: May 2007. Since we’re in the habit of planning Barcamp on Saturday (so people don’t have to take the day off): this gives us 5, 12, 19 or 26 May. Is anyone aware which of those 4 dates is a go (e.g. other interesting Brussels conference right before it) or no-go (other event on the same day)?

SUGGESTIONS
Apart from that: all your suggestions about where we could hold the conference, how the talks should be structured (15min? 30min?), what kind of side-activities we could do (for education, fun, food or esthetical reasons, whatever) are so very welcome, either as a comment on this post or via email to peter.forret _at_ gmail.com.

Let’s get this show on the road!

Some people seem worried about the fact so few speakers have gone through the trouble of writing down the topic of their speech on the Barcamp Topics page. While we did have a lot more topics than announced beforehand on the first Barcamp (May), there is now a striking gap between the number of announced attendees (100) and the number of announced topics (11).

That is why I would like to ask the attendees to add their topic to the Barcamp II speeches, so that we can get an idea of which tracks (Developers, Users, Knowledge and Media track) are most popular and have to be extended. Barcamp is in five days (Sunday), so most speakers should at least have an idea of what they want to present.
